BuildingWorks Pre-Apprenticeship training September 22 to October 17, 2025

Submit this form by 12 noon on September 15, 2025. This form is for the BuildingWorks pre-apprenticeship training session beginning September 22, 2025. If you are not available for the this session, we hope you will apply to an upcoming session. You will need to complete a separate application for each session. New sessions begin every 1 to 2 months. Send questions to buildingworks@nycdcctc.org.

This is NOT the application for the Carpenter Apprenticeship. To apply directly to the Apprenticeship, you must attend an Information Session at the Carpenters Training Center, more information found here: https://www.nyccarpenterstrainingcenter.org/admissions/
HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BUILDINGWORKS BEFORE YOU APPLY:

BuildingWorks is a pre-apprenticeship training that prepares individuals for the Carpenters Union Apprenticeship.

  • Applicants should have a strong interest in Carpentry and commit to completing the 4-year apprenticeship leading to a career as a Union Carpenter.
  • No previous experience with carpentry or construction is necessary, however applicants must have at least 1 year of work experience outside the home.
  • Applicants must be willing and able to work on job sites anywhere in New York City and vicinity.
  • Applicants must pass a drug screen conducted during the 4-week training.
  • Full-Day Sessions are held Mon. to Fri. 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. (start/end times may vary)
  • Sessions will be held in person at the Carpenters Training Center in lower Manhattan. There is a strict attendance policy. No excused absences or lateness for any reason.

  • Attend Applicant Webinar and complete an online test on September 16. (link for the webinar/test will be emailed Sept. 15.)

  • High School or College Diploma from an accredited school (online programs are not accepted).
  • GED or TASC certificate.
  • Official High School transcript with graduation date, signature from a school official and a school stamp.
  • Diplomas in a foreign language accompanied by a translation.
  • We do NOT accept college transcripts.
  • We do NOT accept documents sent separately from the application, transcripts sent from a school or from third party verification services.
