On October 7, 2019 – as required by the NYCDCC By Laws Section 39 (B) the Executive Committee of the District Council has removed the requirement of having the laser certification to become and maintain Shop Steward certification. The laser certification will remain a certification on the Out of Work List however it will no longer be needed for certified shop stewards.

This will take effect on November 1, 2019 as per the District Council Executive Committee.
